Private Music Lesson Policies 2010
Welcome to Southland Music and to the experience of
private music lessons. Let us go over the new policies
which will become effective August 1st 2010.
- Only monthly payments will be accepted. You may
no longer pay weekly for lessons.
- If you need to miss a lesson, you may reschedule
the lesson for another day and time in the current
month. Perhaps you can have two lessons the next
week or an hour lesson for the make-up. You may not
carry over this missed lesson to the next month or
subtract the lesson fee from the next month's fee.
We understand that situations develop when lessons
must be missed, but you have the responsibility of
rescheduling the lesson. Our teachers teach because
they want to develop music skills in their students.
In order to learn, a student needs lessons on a
regular basis. Also, our teachers are here to earn
money from teaching. It is not fair that they sit
idly because of student cancellations.
- Be sure to know whether to call the teacher or
the store to cancel and reschedule a lesson. The
store phone number is 734-287-4480.
- Each teacher has the liberty of making
additional guidelines for payment. Some teachers
want payment the week before the new month begins.
- We do not require you to sign a long term
contract. We feel each month stands by itself in
your attendance and payment.
Let's review some basic guidelines for lessons.
- Please arrive promptly and bring your instrument
and books.
- Parents should be sure to arrive a few minutes
early to pick up their children so they can talk to
the teacher if there are any questions.
- Learning music is fun but also very challenging.
It is recommended that the student finds time
everyday to practice. Usually two 15 minute periods
per day is good. Consistency is the key! 15 minutes
a day is better than two hours spent the day before
a lesson.
- Students should know the name of their teacher
and the teacher's phone number.
Remember, you may cancel a lesson, but you need
to reschedule it or pay for the missed lesson.
Taking two or three lessons per month is no longer
acceptable.

Guitar, Bass, and Percussion Teachers

Jason Lamb Guitar and Bass
Jason
is a Graduate of Wayne State University and has a Degree in Jazz
Studies. Jason has been teaching guitar for 10 years and
is a well know area Guitar Teacher. He is also co-owner of Southland
Music! Jason teaches Monday-Saturday at the store.

Bob Tomich Guitar and Bass
Bob
has been teaching guitar at Southland Music for over 10 years
and has an outstanding reputation with the students he has
taught. Bob is one of the teachers that are most often asked for by
name, due to his skill and length of teaching
career. Chances are you know someone who has or does take
lessons with Bob. Bob teaches Monday-Saturday at the store.

Stephanie Urban Guitar
Stephanie attended Henry Ford and Wayne State University where
she studied Classical and Jazz Guitar. She is a well known
teacher and has been teaching at Southland Music for over 10
years. Stephanie teaches Tuesday-Saturday at the store.

Joe Tortonesi Percussion
Joe
has been playing Drums for more than 30 years. Joe began
teaching Percussion at Southland Music in the 1980's and he has
the longest teaching history of all of our staff. Joe studied
Percussion at Henry Ford Community College and has been part of
the teaching staff at Southland Music for many years. Joe
teaches Monday-Saturday at the store.
